The Library Committee of Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel, successfully organized a program on 12th August 2025 to celebrate National Librarian’s Day and pay tribute to Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India, on his birth anniversary. The event was held in the Seminar Hall at 10:50 a.m. and witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students.
The program commenced with a warm welcome by Mrs. Janhavi Bhoir, Librarian of the college, who addressed the gathering and highlighted the contributions of Dr. Ranganathan to the field of library science. She emphasized the importance of libraries and the role of librarians in fostering knowledge and academic growth.
To mark the occasion, Principal Dr. Sanavi Deshmukh and Assistant Professor Mrs. Dhanashri Kadam, B.A. LL.B. Coordinator, paid tribute and offered a floral garland to the portrait of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan. The moment reflected the collective respect and admiration for his invaluable legacy.
In the keynote address, Dr. Sanavi Deshmukh urged the students to cultivate and enhance their reading habits, to explore the library regularly, and to dedicate time each day to reading more and more books. She emphasized that every student should aim to read at least one page daily, as this consistent practice would significantly contribute to their knowledge, comprehension skills, and overall academic excellence.
