The Library Committee of Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel, organized a successful Book Review Competition on National Librarian’s Day, 12th August 2024, in the Seminar Hall. The event, led by the librarian Ms. Janhavi Bhoir and guided by In-charge Principal Mrs. Sanavi Deshmukh, the event sought to inspire a passion for reading while nurturing students' analytical skills.
The competition featured 20 participants from various programs and years, who presented reviews on a diverse range of genres, including fiction, non-fiction, and biographies. The reviews were judged by Dr. Ramakant Navghare, Librarian of Changu Kana Thakur Arts, Commerce, and Science College (Autonomous), New Panvel, who assessed the submissions based on originality, depth of analysis, writing style, and relevance to the book's themes. The judges were highly impressed with the quality of the presentations. The competition successfully created a vibrant literary culture within the institution, with participants noting improvements in their reading habits and analytical skills.
The event was hosted by Ms. Apoorva Jadhav, Chaitrali Kane, and Ms. Mrunal Patekar, with an introductory speech by Ms. Janhavi Bhoir, who also highlighted the significance of National Librarian’s Day and the contributions of S. R. Ranganathan, the father of Library Science. The keynote address was delivered by the honorable judge and guest, Dr. Ramakant Navghare. The enthusiastic support from fellow students, faculty members, and staff created an electrifying atmosphere, and the event's success bodes well for future initiatives to continue nurturing the spirit of inquiry and learning.
