Inter-Sanstha Chess Championship 2026 Held as Grand Tribute to the 75th Year of Hon’ble Shri Ramsheth Thakur Sir New Panvel | Monday, 19 January 2026: In a proud and meaningful tribute to the 75th year (75th birthday year) of visionary leadership of Hon’ble Chairman, Shri Ramsheth Thakur Sir, Janardhan Bhagat Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha (JBSP) successfully conducted the Inter-Sanstha Chess Championship – 2026, hosted by Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel. The programme began with the Lighting of the Lamp, by the hands of Hon’ble Shri Y.T Deshmukh, Hon’ble Shri Dr. S.T Gadade, followed by the National Anthem and Maharashtra Geet, creating a dignified and spirited start to the championship. The championship beautifully reflected the true values upheld by JBSP Sanstha — holistic development, discipline, excellence, and leadership-building — while celebrating the remarkable journey and legacy of Hon’ble Shri Ramsheth Thakur Sir, whose visionary guidance continues to inspire generations of students, educators and institutions. The event was further honoured by the gracious presence of esteemed dignitaries from the Panvel Chess Association, namely: ● Shri Chandrashekar Patil, Secretary, Panvel Chess Association ● Shri Sameer Paranjape, Vice President, Panvel Chess Association The dignitaries appreciated the initiative taken by JBSP Sanstha to promote chess as an intellectual sport and encouraged all participants to uphold discipline, confidence, and true sportsmanship throughout the tournament. While presenting the overview of the championship, the organising committee highlighted that chess is not merely a sport, but a training ground for the mind, strengthening concentration, decision-making, patience and strategic thinking — the very qualities that define great leadership. Therefore, this championship became a meaningful celebration of Hon’ble Shri Ramsheth Thakur Sir’s legacy, as chess symbolises the same vision, planning and foresight that strong leadership demands. The response to the championship was truly inspiring. In just four days, the organising committee received an overwhelming 97 entries from various JBSP Sanstha schools and colleges, reflecting the strong chess culture and competitive spirit across the institutions. The tournament was successfully conducted in three categories: ● Category A (U16): 44 participants ● Category B (U20): 48 participants ● Category C (Open): 5 participants bringing the total number of participants to 97. The championship stood out not only for its smooth execution and impressive participation, but also for the unity it created by bringing together students from several prestigious JBSP Sanstha institutions on one common platform — in celebration of the significant 75th year milestone of Hon’ble Shri Ramsheth Thakur Sir. The organising committee expressed sincere gratitude to all participating institutions, teacher-coordinators, volunteers and distinguished guests for their valuable presence and contribution towards the grand success of the championship.
