The purpose of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to the functioning of a police station and help them understand the role of the police in maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and administering criminal justice.
During the visit, students were introduced to the general functioning of the police station and the duties performed by police personnel. They gained an understanding of the procedure for receiving complaints, registering First Information Reports (FIRs), and initiating investigations in accordance with the applicable law.
The police personnel explained the importance of maintaining law and order, conducting investigations, collecting evidence, and protecting the rights of citizens. Students also learned about the relevance of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and other applicable criminal laws in police administration and criminal proceedings.
The visit provided an opportunity for students to interact with police personnel, clarify their doubts, and relate their classroom learning to the practical aspects of criminal law and procedure.
The visit enhanced students’ understanding of police administration, complaint registration, FIR procedures, and criminal investigation. It also helped them appreciate the importance of the rule of law, public safety, protection of citizens’ rights, and coordination between law enforcement agencies and the judiciary.
The Police Station Visit was an informative and enriching learning experience for the Third Year B.A. LL.B. students of BCT College of Law. It helped bridge the gap between theoretical legal education and practical exposure to the criminal justice system. The visit strengthened students’ understanding of police procedures, the application of criminal laws, and the role of the police in upholding justice and maintaining public order.
