The Saksham Program, organized by the Women Development Cell in collaboration with the Legal Aid Committee of our college, was held from 3rd October 2024 to 11th October 2024, coinciding with the auspicious festival of Navratri. This initiative aimed at raising awareness about child sexual abuse and promoting preventive measures, particularly among children in nearby primary schools.
Under this program, the students of the 4th Year B.A. LL.B., namely Snehal Manore, Dipali Kedar, Vidhi Gondhali, and Jidnya Thakur, took the lead in conducting awareness sessions under the guidance of I/C principal Sanavi Deshmukh and Asst. These sessions were tailored to engage young minds and covered critical aspects of identifying, preventing, and addressing child sexual abuse. The program featured dynamic presentations, interactive discussions, and the distribution of a specially designed digital booklet on prevention strategies, ensuring accessibility and comprehension for the participants.
A total of 400 students from the aforementioned schools benefited from these sessions. The feedback from both students and the headmasters of the schools was overwhelmingly positive. The headmasters expressed their appreciation for the initiative, praising the dedication and professionalism displayed by the student volunteers.
The Saksham Program also served as a meaningful tribute to the strength and resilience of women, culminating on 11th October 2024, the International Day of the Girl Child. This alignment underscored the importance of creating a safer environment for children while celebrating the empowerment and protection of girl children.
The success of this initiative is a reflection of the collective efforts of the student volunteers and the guidance of the faculty, demonstrating the commitment of our college to fostering a more informed and secure society for children.
