The Library Committee of Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel, organized an Elocution Competition on the occasion of National Librarian’s Day on 12th August 2026 in the Seminar Hall. The event was organized under the leadership of Librarian Ms. Janhavi Bhoir and the guidance of In-charge Principal Dr. Sanavi Deshmukh. The competition was organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science, and to highlight the importance of libraries and reading in students’ academic and personal lives. The theme of the competition was “Contribution of the Library in Your Life.” Students were encouraged to share their experiences and perspectives on how libraries and reading have contributed to their learning, knowledge, critical thinking, and overall development. A total of 20 students from different programmes and years participated enthusiastically in the competition. The participants delivered speeches in different languages and shared their personal experiences, thoughts, and reflections on the role of libraries in their lives. Their presentations demonstrated confidence, originality, analytical ability, and an appreciation for reading and learning. The participants were evaluated by Asst. Prof. Dhanashri Kadam (B.A., LL.B. Coordinator), Asst. Prof. Dr. Mamta Bhattacharjee, Asst. Prof. Shilpa Rathod, and Librarian Ms. Janhavi Bhoir. The judges appreciated the enthusiasm, confidence, content, presentation skills, and originality demonstrated by the participants. The event was hosted by Ms. Aarya Kadam and Mr. Yadnyant Parthe. Ms. Janhavi Bhoir delivered the introductory address, highlighting the significance of National Librarian’s Day and the pioneering contributions of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan to the field of Library and Information Science. The keynote address was delivered by In-charge Principal Dr. Sanavi Deshmukh, who encouraged students to make effective use of library resources and develop a lifelong habit of reading and learning. The enthusiastic participation and support of students, faculty members, and staff contributed significantly to the success of the event. The competition provided students with a platform to express their ideas, develop public-speaking and analytical skills, and reflect on the important role played by libraries in their academic journey. The event concluded successfully, reinforcing the Library Committee’s commitment to promoting reading culture, knowledge sharing, critical thinking, and student-centric learning initiatives within the institution.
