Objective of the Event
The primary objective of the Walk for Freedom was to create awareness among students and the general public about the importance of freedom, human rights, and social justice. The event aimed to sensitize society towards issues such as exploitation, inequality, human trafficking, and the violation of fundamental rights, while promoting the values of liberty, dignity, and equality guaranteed under the Constitution of India.
As a law institution, BCT Law College, through its NSS Unit, sought to instill a sense of social responsibility, legal awareness, and active citizenship among students. The collaboration with THE Movement India strengthened the initiative by providing a broader platform to advocate for freedom and justice. The event also encouraged youth participation in social movements and inspired students to contribute towards building a just, fair, and humane society.
Details of the Event
On 31 January 2026, the NSS Unit of BCT Law College, New Panvel organized a Walk for Freedom event in partnership with The Movement India, a social impact organisation dedicated to advocacy, volunteering, and anti-human trafficking initiatives.
The event commenced with a brief inaugural address by the Tithi Oswal NSS Students Representative, who highlighted the significance of freedom and the role of youth in safeguarding democratic values. Representatives from THE Movement India addressed the participants and explained the purpose of the walk, emphasizing the need to stand against injustice, oppression, and social evils affecting marginalized communities.
The Walk was declared open by the Dr. Sanavi Deshmukh(Principal), NSS Chairman R.V. Yeole (CKT College), Chief Programme Officer Mr Akash Patil (CKT College), Asst. Prof Dhanashri Kadam (BALLB Coordinator).
The rally was organized as a peaceful and disciplined march covering a distance of approximately 1.5 Km, starting from the premises of BCT Law College Via Devi Mandir, Police station, Khandeshwar Taxi Stand and concluding at the College campus.
