The NSS Unit of Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel, organized an insightful seminar on “Cyber Awareness & Drug Abuse” and “Women Safety Awareness Campaign” on 31st October 2025 at 10:30 AM to educate students about vital social issues such as cyber safety, women’s security, and the growing problem of drug abuse in society.
The session began with Assistant Police Inspector Yogesh Deshmukh (Crime Branch – Women & Children Cell, Anti-Human Trafficking Unit), who spoke about the police’s efforts in preventing and addressing crimes against women and children. He emphasized the role of the Women and Children Cell and its initiatives in safeguarding society.
Ms. Trupti Kale from the Women’s Cell addressed issues related to violence against women, highlighting their legal rights while also acknowledging the rising incidents of violence against men. Her session offered a balanced view of gender-based crimes and the available legal remedies under Indian law.
Next, A.S.I. Sarang conducted an engaging session on Cyber Crimes and Punishments, explaining how technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are being misused for online frauds. He shared real-life examples, including AI-generated video call scams and cryptocurrency-related crimes, raising awareness about digital deception.
P.S.I. Vane concluded the technical segment by discussing preventive measures against cyber frauds such as phishing and share market scams. His practical insights on identifying and avoiding online traps were highly informative for students.
The seminar concluded with an address by Principal Dr. Sanavi Deshmukh, who commended the efforts of the police officials and emphasized the importance of awareness among youth regarding cyber safety, drug abuse, and women’s protection. An interactive Q&A session followed, during which students actively participated and received practical advice from the experts.
