Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel, under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Sanavi Deshmukh Ma’am, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and in collaboration with the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE), organized a Seminar cum Webinar on “Decoding GST and Taxpayers’ Grievance Redressal Mechanisms” on 4th April 2026 in collaboration with the Directorate General of Taxpayer Services (DGTS), Mumbai Zonal Unit. The programme witnessed the gracious presence of Hon’ble Shri Sumit Kumar Sir, Principal ADG, DGTS, Mumbai Zonal Unit, who addressed the gathering prior to the commencement of the seminar and set the tone for the session by emphasizing the importance of GST awareness among young learners and future professionals. The seminar was also graced by esteemed dignitaries including Dr. S.T. Gadade Sir, Secretary, JBSP Sanstha, who addressed the gathering and highlighted the relevance of such academic initiatives, and Dr. S.K. Patil Sir, Principal, CKT College of Arts, Commerce and Science (Autonomous). Other distinguished guests from the Directorate General of Taxpayer Services, Mumbai Zonal Unit included: • Shri S.V. Gangwani, Additional Assistant Director The keynote address for the programme was delivered by Shri Deepak Mata, Deputy Commissioner, CC Office, CGST, Mumbai, who provided valuable insights into the framework of GST, its practical implications, and the mechanisms available for grievance redressal for taxpayers. The primary objective of the seminar was to create awareness among students about the Goods and Services Tax (GST), its functioning, and the available grievance redressal mechanisms, thereby equipping them with essential knowledge relevant to both academic and professional domains. The programme was effectively coordinated by Asst. Prof. Aishwarya Patole and Asst. Prof. Mrs. Ravnish Bector, who ensured the smooth conduct of the session. The technical aspects of the seminar were efficiently handled by Aishwarya Patole along with the support of dedicated student volunteers. An engaging question and answer session added great value to the programme, reflecting the keen interest and active participation of the students. The interactive nature of the session enabled participants to gain a deeper understanding of GST and related legal frameworks. The seminar concluded with a concluding note by Dr. Sanavi Deshmukh Ma’am, who appreciated the efforts of the organizers and emphasized the importance of such knowledge-driven initiatives. This was followed by a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Asst. Prof. Mrs. Ravnish Bector, who expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries, guests, and participants for making the event a grand success. The session ended on a positive note with an assurance from the department to organize more such interactive and informative programmes in the future.
