Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel, successfully organized an awareness and guidance session on “Financial Literacy for a Secure Future: Post Office Savings & Investment” on 4th September 2026 in the Seminar Hall. The programme was organized by the DLLE Committee under the guidance of Principal Dr. Sanavi Deshmukh and coordinated by Asst. Prof. Anam Mehamdikar, DLLE In-charge, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Mamta Bhattacharjee. The session was conducted by Ms. Swati Sirsath, Assistant Postmaster, Panvel Post Office, who provided students with practical knowledge about various Post Office Savings and Investment Schemes. The anchoring of the programme was done by student Arya Kadam, who coordinated the proceedings of the session. Ms. Swati Sirsath explained the importance of systematic savings, financial planning and informed investment decisions. She discussed various Post Office schemes with practical examples and guided students on how suitable savings and investment options can contribute towards long-term financial security. The officials also provided detailed information about insurance schemes available through the Post Office, particularly Postal Life Insurance (PLI). Students were guided about various PLI policies, including Suraksha, Suvidha and Santosh, along with the Children Policy. The resource person explained the purpose, benefits and relevance of these insurance schemes and highlighted how life insurance can provide financial protection to policyholders and their families. An interactive Question-and-Answer session was conducted, during which students actively raised queries regarding Post Office savings, investment and insurance schemes, including Postal Life Insurance, Suraksha, Suvidha, Santosh and Children Policy. Ms. Swati Sirsath addressed the students’ queries and provided practical explanations and examples, making the session informative and useful. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Suyesha Patil, 2nd Year B.A. LL.B., expressing gratitude to everyone involved in the successful conduct of the session. The programme successfully enhanced students’ awareness of savings, investments, insurance and financial planning, encouraging them to make informed and responsible financial decisions for a secure financial future.
