In pursuance of the 75th birthday celebrations of our Hon’ble Chairman, Shri Ramsheth Thakur, whose contribution to the field of education is noteworthy, a Research Paper Writing Workshop was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Sanavi Deshmukh, I/c Principal, and the Research Club on 23rd August 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Seminar Hall of Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel. The workshop was organised to equip students and budding researchers with essential skills in academic writing, research methodology, and publication ethics. The workshop aimed to encourage and prepare students to participate in the Research Paper Writing and Presentation Competition, which the Research Club is organising.
The session commenced with a welcome address by the Principal, Dr. Sanavi Deshmukh, who emphasised the importance of research in legal studies and professional growth. Special focus was given to the relevance of originality, clarity, and critical analysis in producing high-quality research. The lecture touched on the vital aspects needed to pursue research and cultivation of the thought process to initiate a research paper on a particular topic. She illustrated the theme of the Research Paper Writing and Presentation Competition, the right to education, and the subthemes related to the main theme.
The next part of the Session was taken over by Dr. Mamta Bhattacharjee, in charge of Research Club, who guided participants through the fundamentals of research paper writing, including area of interest, topic selection, framing the title, writing the abstract, finding relevant keywords, how to write the introduction, literature review, writing the objectives, methods to be utilised in the research, data collection, analysis and data interpretation, structuring arguments, discussion, writing the conclusion and suggestions, citation styles, references, writing the footnotes, end notes, bibliography and avoiding plagiarism.
An activity was conducted where the participants were given an abstract, and they were asked to give an appropriate title, write five keywords, and frame a questionnaire with five questions. The next activity was to identify the reference style from the multiple-choice given. The interactive nature of the workshop allowed students to raise questions and clarify their doubts about writing techniques and publication procedures. Practical examples and case-based discussions helped participants to better understand the nuances of drafting and presenting a research paper.
The workshop was further taken over by Mrs. Janhavi Bhoir, Co-ordinator of Research Club who guided the participants about structure of the research paper, formatting as per the instructions given for writing the research paper and concluded with a vote of thanks, where she acknowledged the guidance of Dr. Sanavi Deshmukh, I/c Principal, the efforts of Dr. Mamta Bhattacharjee, Incharge, Research Club , faculty members, and students for making the workshop a success. After that, the participants were given Participation Certificates for attending the workshop by Asst. Prof. Ravnish Bector.
Overall, the session was highly informative and enriching, encouraging students to pursue research with greater confidence and academic integrity.
