On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Women Development Cell of Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law organised a POSH Training Session on Gender Sensitisation under the initiative Swabhiman 0.3. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Sanavi Deshmukh, Chairperson, Women Development Cell. The objective of the activity was to spread awareness about workplace dignity, gender sensitivity, and the legal framework under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013.
The programme began with the National Anthem, followed by a formal welcome. The event was hosted by Asst. Prof. Aishwarya Patole, who introduced the theme and stressed the importance of observing this international day.
The keynote session was conducted by Asst. Prof. Dhanashri Yogesh Kadam, Certified POSH Trainer. She explained the definition of sexual harassment, types of prohibited conduct, rights of women, duties of employers, and the essential role of the Internal Committee (IC) as per the POSH Act, 2013. She also focused on gender sensitisation, respectful conduct, workplace safety, and preventive mechanisms. Case studies and practical scenarios were shared to make the session more engaging and informative. Students participated actively, making the discussion highly interactive.
After the lecture, Asst. Prof. Neha Kachi delivered the Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the support of the management, Dr. Sanavi Deshmukh, faculty members, students, and the organising team. The programme concluded with the National Song.
Overall, the session proved to be insightful and impactful, strengthening the students’ understanding of gender equality, safe spaces, and legal remedies available under POSH.
