Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel, organized the Late Shri Janardan Bhagat Memorial Lecture Series from 27th to 30th January, 2026 in the college seminar hall. The lecture series was convened by Assistant Professors Mrs. Ravnish Bector and Mrs. Anam Mehandikar, under the guidance of Dr. Sanavi Deshmukh, In-charge Principal of the college.
The third day of the lecture series, i.e., 29th January, 2026, featured Mr. Gokul Narayan, CEO, Asian School of Cyber Laws, as the distinguished guest speaker. He delivered an enlightening lecture on the topic "The Changing Face of Advocacy in Mediation," which generated keen interest among students and faculty members.
In his address, Mr. Narayan emphasized the significance of mediation as an essential tool of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in the contemporary legal system. He critically examined the existing curriculum and expressed serious concern over the fact that only 30 hours are allocated to mediation in the B.A. LL.B. syllabus, despite its growing relevance in litigation and dispute resolution.
During the lecture, he also discussed the historical development of mediation in India, highlighting its evolution and increasing acceptance within the justice delivery system.
The session was efficiently anchored by Ms. Disha Dhone, ensuring the smooth conduct of the program. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Shruti Chaube, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the guest speaker, organizers, and participants.
The lecture proved to be highly informative and beneficial, significantly enriching the academic understanding of students in the evolving field of mediation.
