Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, located in New Panvel, has achieved a significant milestone by securing accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Bengaluru, India, with a commendable CGPA of 2.69 B+ Grade.
The NAAC Peer Team visited the college on June 10th and 11th, 2024, to inspect the institution. The peer team members were Hon’ble Chairman Prof. Ashok Patil, Vice Chancellor, National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi; Hon’ble Member Coordinator Prof. Sudhansu Ranjan Mohapatra, Professor, Department of Law, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Chhattisgarh; and Hon’ble Member Dr. Rajni Dhingra, Principal, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies, West Delhi. The respected NAAC peer team visited every department of the college, including the Administrative Office, Library, Examination Office, Moot Court, DLLE Office, Legal Aid Clinic, and NSS Unit and so on. They interacted with the respective department heads and compiled a report on the functioning of the college, which was subsequently uploaded to the NAAC Portal.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) conducts assessment and accreditation of Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) On the basis of 7 criteria. The assessment criteria include Criteria 1 Curriculum Aspects, Criteria 2 Teaching-learning and Evaluation, Criteria 3 Research, Innovations and Extension, Criteria 4 Infrastructure and Learning Resources, Criteria 5 Student Support and Progression, Criteria 6 Governance, Leadership and Management and Criteria 7 Institutional Values and Best Practices. With regards to all these criteria NAAC peer team has assess the overall functioning and management of college and given the B+ Grade with CGPA of 2.69.
During the visit, the peer team held meetings with the management members, teaching staff, non-teaching staff, students, parents, and alumni of the college. The peer team members appreciated the college for providing fundamental facilities to both staff and students. They were particularly impressed with the college's provision of excellent legal education, distinguishing it as one of the best Law College in Raigad district. In conclusion, the NAAC peer team had given additional suggestions for the college’s future growth and development. On the basis of suggestions given by the NAAC peer team college has decided to take further steps towards the betterment of college to achieve higher grade in the next NAAC Accreditation Cycle.
This accreditation is a testament to the college's dedication to academic excellence and adherence to stringent quality standards. The management of the college, led by Janardhan Bhagat Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha, has been instrumental in guiding Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law towards this achievement. Special credit is extended to Hon’ble Chairman Shri Ramsheth Thakur, Hon’ble Vice Chairman Y.T. Deshmukh, and Hon’ble Secretary Dr. S.T. Gadade for their exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to educational advancement.
Principal Sanavi Deshmukh, along with IQAC Coordinator Raghav Sharma and the entire staff of Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, played a pivotal role in ensuring that the institution met the rigorous criteria set by NAAC. Their collective efforts have fostered an environment conducive to holistic learning and academic growth.
