Raising Day Programme at Police Station

Objective of the Programme: The programme was organized to commemorate the Raising Day of the Police Dal and to create awareness among NSS volunteers regarding law enforcement, public safety, civic responsibilities, and cyber crime awareness, with special emphasis on preventive measures and timely reporting of cyber offences. Details of the Programme: As part of NSS activities, Bhugubai Changu Thakur College of Law organized an awareness programme at Khanda Colony Police Station. NSS volunteers were compulsorily present, and attendance was marked as NSS duty. The programme was conducted by Police officers of Khandeshwar Police Station. It included informative and interactive sessions aimed at sensitizing students towards the role of police in maintaining law and order and protecting citizens in the digital age. The programme was conducted under the guidance and presence of the following officials: Ms. Smita Dhakane – Senior Police Inspector Mr. Sachin Pardeshi – Police Inspector Mr. Kailesh Mhatre – Constable, Khanda Colony Police Station Other police officers from Khandeshwar Police Station, Khanda Colony From the college, the following faculty members were present: Ms. Rohini Kalyankar – Assistant Professor of Law and NSS Programme Officer Mr. Sangram Pawar – Assistant Professor Details of the Session: Mr. Sachin Pardeshi,Police Inspector, delivered a detailed and informative session on cyber awareness. The session covered the meaning and scope of cyber crimes and explained various types of cyber offences such as online frauds, phishing, identity theft, and cyber harassment. He emphasized the importance of the golden hour in cyber crime reporting and explained the immediate steps to be taken by victims to prevent further damage. The session also created awareness about the toll-free cyber crime helpline numbers 1930 and 1945 for prompt registration of complaints. A large number of NSS volunteers actively participated in the programme. The volunteers listened attentively to the sessions and interacted with the police officers, gaining practical knowledge about cyber safety, legal remedies, and responsible digital behavior. The programme enhanced awareness among students about cyber offences and their preventive measures. Students understood the importance of immediate reporting during the golden hour and became familiar with the cyber crime helpline numbers 1930 and 1945. The programme strengthened cooperation between the college and the police department and encouraged students to act as responsible and informed citizens. Conclusion: The Raising Day programme organized at Khanda Colony Police Station was informative and beneficial. The cyber awareness session successfully educated NSS volunteers about emerging cyber threats and the importance of vigilance and timely reporting. The programme fulfilled the objectives of NSS by promoting social awareness, civic responsibility, and legal literacy among students.
